Tasting Notes

The wine shows caramel and ripe red berry fruits on the nose. The palate is generous and juicy with a plethora of red berries. Strawberry, black cherry, and cassis prevail up front, while kola nut, mocha, and toasted oak support with a mouth-pleasing character and approachability. Medium bodied with soft tannins and a lovely mouthfeel, this Cabernet is very drinkable upon release.

“A warm and generous wine with a sweet-seeming richness that makes it easy to sip without further aging. Full-bodied, laced with mostly red fruit, from strawberries to cherries, and with underlying blueberry, cocoa and creme de cassis notes. It is 81% cabernet sauvignon with small amounts of other Bordeaux grapes plus 3% petite sirah. Drink now.” – JamesSuckling.com, January 2025

Winemaking

The grapes were destemmed, crushed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks until dry. We pressed the skins and gently transferred the freshly fermented wine to 60-gallon oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and 15 months of aging. Prior to bottling, we blended several varieties with the Cabernet Sauvignon to add complexity and plushness to the wine’s mid-palate. This also added plenty of finesse to the lingering finish and enhanced the flavor and aroma profile.

Vintage

Winter was warm and dry, with rain and cooler weather only arriving toward the end of March. A mild spring allowed for a promising early beginning to the season. Summer surprised us with cool mornings and warmer afternoons. As a result, the harvest produced smaller berries with concentrated flavors and remarkable acidity, creating excellent, balanced wines.

Vineyard

We sourced the majority of the Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley’s Rutherford, Calistoga, and St. Helena appellations. Diverse soils and microclimates, as well as the various clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and cultivation techniques, contributed to this wine’s complex flavor profile. The balance of the blend was grown both in our estate vineyards and other quality vineyards across Napa Valley.
